Kolhapur: About Rs669 crores has been allocated to set up a new govt ayurveda college at Sangav in Kagal tehsil and a yoga and naturopathy college at Uttur in Ajara tehsil, said state medical education minister Hasan Mushrif.
On Thursday, the state cabinet approved the proposal for the colleges with attached hospitals in Kolhapur. Mushrif said that for the ayurveda college and attached hospital, Rs 487 cr will be spent, and for the yoga and naturopathy collegewith attached hospital, Rs 182 cr will be spent.
The estimates include civil construction, machines and equipment, staff salaries, and a few requirements. “For the yoga and naturopathy govt college, a hospital with a 60-bed capacity will be built across three acres. The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy is running five establishments, both private and govt. We have got the approval from the council to run the programme,” said Mushrif. Mushrif said that at Sangav, the ayurveda college will have an intake capacity of 100, and the attached hospital will have 100 beds for in-patients.
