Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh health department will set up an Ayurvedic medicine testing laboratory and godown with about Rs 7 crore in Sontyam near Anandapuram in Visakhapatnam.

A foundation stone for this facility was recently laid by state health minister V Rajini.

The health minister said that Ayurveda has been getting worldwide attention for its side effect-free medications. “Ayurveda offers the best treatment for several long-term diseases. The state government has decided to set up this facility to prioritise Ayurveda medicine in the state. The testing lab and godown would provide employment to nearly 150 people,” said Rajini.
Bheemili MLA M Srinivasa Rao thanked the state government for sanctioning the Ayurveda testing laboratory to his constituency.

“The state government is working on a mission to establish 17 medical colleges in the state. Five colleges were already launched from this academic year. Andhra Pradesh is giving its top priority to health and education. All the vacant posts in the government hospitals and other medical facilities were filled in the last four years. Now, the government has gone a step ahead and introduced Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha scheme to bring specialists to the doorstep of the public,”said Srinivasa Rao.
