Pune: A 27-year-old Ayurveda practitioner, who wished to pursue her master’s degree, was duped of Rs19.75 lakh by three men on the promise of securing admission in a private college in Pimpri Chinchwad.
The woman gave money to the trio in Jan last year, but did not get the promised admission, nor did the get her money back. The victim on Wednesday approached the Chikhali police to lodge a complaint.
Sub-inspector Ajit Kakade of the Chikhali police said, “The complainant told us that when she first came in contact with two of the men, they assured her that they could secure a seat for her through the management quota.
They also introduced her to their third accomplice, who posed as an employee of the said college’s management.” After the woman gave them the funds and did not get the entry into the college, she started pursuing the trio for her money. They gave her cheques that bounced. “After waiting for over a year, she lodged a complaint against the trio,” Kakade said, adding, “We have ascertained the identities of the trio. We are working on some clues.”
