Eden Pharma acquires 5,000-acre site in Uganda for cannabis research and production

The company believes it now owns the largest cannabis R&D cultivation site on the globe

Eden Pharma Ltd claims to have acquired the largest cannabis development site in the world. 

On Friday, the United Kingdom-based medical cannabis and extract company announced that it had come into possession of a 5,000-acre site in Uganda that will be used for the research and development of cannabis.

The company says the new project will involve building a community for local people that will create jobs, strengthen the economy and improve their overall quality of life. Additionally, that community will have an airport, pharmacies and various research labs.

This endeavour is fully licensed by the government in Uganda, according to Eden.

Eden also says the site is anticipated to produce important research for the cannabis industry along with large amounts of raw material CBD and pot to be used in global markets.“The joint venture in Uganda has opened up Eden Pharma to significant development opportunities that will solidify the years of hard work Eden’s team has put into it. Eden Pharma will be an exceptional vertically integrated Company delivering for its customers and stakeholders alike,” said a company spokesperson.

The company intends to employ 100 per cent Ugandan people within three years after the consummation of the so-called “Eden Uganda project” and says that the venture will provide a 3 per cent boost to Uganda’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Lastly, Eden says a documentary entitled “The Garden of Africa” is being produced to showcase the newly acquired land.
