ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Research, Anand, Gujarat organised a 5-day Entrepreneurial Training on Setting of Herbal Extract Business-1(SHEB-1) in association with its Medi-Hub TBI Agribusiness Incubation (ABI) centre from 29th May - 03rd July 2024. Medi-Hub TBI is an agribusiness incubator established under the National Agricultural Innovation Fund, ICAR. The main objective of the SHEB-1 is to accelerate start-up business in Medicinal and Aromatic plants (MAPs). The valedictory function was held today.
Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, highlighted the role of MAPs in the herbal extract business. He opined that there is a need to strengthen the value chain of MAPs from cultivation to extraction for the economy, quality, safety, and efficacy of herbal products.
The programme discussed the prospects of the herbal extract business, efficient extraction technologies, standard operating protocols, product formulation, standardization of extracts, and quality testing.
A total of 9 participants attended the training programme.
