Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav advocated for an integrated AYUSH system in Maharashtra, citing its successful implementation at the central level to improve coordination and funding. The AYUSH Ministry is developing age-specific and ailment-based yoga asana packages for social media.
NASHIK: The Union minister of state (independent charge) of the Ministry of AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, was in Nashik on Friday for the 'Yaga Mahotsav', conducted at Gauri Patangan along the Godavari River.
He addressed the media on the the programme, urging state govt for integrated AYUSH system in Maharashtra.
"At the Centre, AYUSH has been integrated. This is unlike in the state where the public health ministry, medical education ministry, and the food and drugs ministry govern the education and treatment of AYUSH. We have written to the state chief minister and the deputy chief minister to carve out an integrated AYUSH system in the state, which will improve coordination and funding for programmes for the needy," said Jadhav.
Jadhav also mentioned the AYUSH Ministry is now developing packages of asanas tailored for specific age groups and those suffering from specific ailments. "We have decided to create small packages of asanas that will describe the age, the asana, the benefits, and even ailment-based guidance, such as for diabetes, hypertension, or pregnant women, along with what to do and to avoid. These will be put up on social media platforms," he said.
The minister also noted that yoga is being included in the school curriculum and is being recognised as a sport in the Asian Games, which will attract students to yoga and help them build their careers. The AYUSH Minister Jadhav stated that his ministry would also establish AYUSH wellness centres during the Simhastha Kumbhmela being held in Nashik.
