The National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, has officially inaugurated a three-day national workshop titled ‘Shalyakon’, focusing on advancements and clinical excellence in Ayurvedic Shalya Chikitsa (surgery). The workshop coincides with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the institute and reflects India’s growing emphasis on strengthening traditional medical systems through structured academic and clinical collaboration.
The workshop is being organised under the guidance of senior faculty members of the institute and is supported by national-level Ayurvedic bodies. The program runs from February 5 to February 7, 2026, with participation from over 100 Ayurvedic surgeons and postgraduate scholars representing multiple states.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by eminent personalities including:
Prof. K C Thakral, Chief Guest
Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Director, National Institute of Ayurveda
Senior Shalya Tantra experts from reputed Ayurvedic colleges
Representatives from Ayush academic councils
The speakers highlighted the importance of evidence-based Ayurveda, surgical skill development, and interdisciplinary integration.
The primary objectives of ‘Shalyakon’ include:
Strengthening practical surgical training in Ayurveda
Introducing modern diagnostic and operative techniques
Promoting research-oriented clinical practices
Enhancing national collaboration among Ayurvedic surgeons
Bridging classical texts with contemporary healthcare needs
The workshop features live demonstrations, case-based discussions, panel sessions, and technical lectures on:
Kshar Sutra therapy
Anorectal and para-surgical procedures
Modern surgical tools in Ayurveda
Patient safety and post-operative care
Research documentation and case reporting
Experts emphasized that such national platforms are crucial in positioning Ayurveda as a scientifically robust and clinically effective medical system. With increasing global interest in traditional medicine, India’s structured academic initiatives play a vital role in standardization and global acceptance.
Doctor-led platforms like Indianvaidyas and Ayuquo Centrum are increasingly supporting this ecosystem by connecting authentic practitioners, institutions, and patients through verified information and expert networks.
The event aligns with the Government of India’s vision to promote Ayurveda under the Ayush framework, ensuring quality education, clinical excellence, and global outreach. Institutions like the National Institute of Ayurveda continue to act as pillars in this transformation.
