Navjot Singh Sidhu recently announced that his wife is clinically cancer-free. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, after which she underwent treatment and followed a strict diet plan.

Days after he was trolled for suggesting diet helped his wife become clinically cancer-free, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu shared the diet plan that was made in consultation with doctors to better aid recovery.

"I always believed that cancer treatment works best when complemented by a proper diet. The diet supported me during times of swelling, and the Ayurvedic regimen has been a great help. Maintaining a healthy routine, including regular exercise, is essential. Above all, it’s crucial to avoid food adulteration for better health," Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer said.

Sharing the diet plan on X, Sidhu wrote, "My wife's cancer journey involved surgeries, chemotherapy, hormonal and targeted therapy, positivity and determination to fight cancer which was facilitated by a strict diet plan inspired by ancient Indian Ayurveda, the Nobel prize-winning research by Yoshinori Ohsumi for 'discoveries of the mechanisms for autophagy' and observations of eminent doctors worldwide."

The diet plan included drinking alkaline water of a high pH level (pH7) to enhance the recovery. Instead of having tea, she drank a concoction of cardamon, basil, mint, ginger and cinnamon.

She fasted for 12 to 17 hours after dinner, having the first meal of the day at 10 am.

She began her mornings with warm lemon water, a spoonful of apple cider vinegar and raw garlic, raw turmeric and neem leaves. Besides this, she consumed fruits like blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, pomegranates and beetroot juice with amla and carrots.

Sidhu consumed 3 walnuts and 2 Brazil nuts or almonds with makhanas as a healthy snack and avocado or coconut cream. Other foods like white petha or orange juice, haldi and ginger or cucumber, pineapple with ginger or bottle gourd were also a part of her diet.

She also had foods like soursop leaves or night jasmine once a day. Adding salads amounting to 1% of her body weight also helped her lose weight, she said in the video.

Consumption of cooked food was limited to lentils or dal, rajma, chana while completely avoiding refined carbohydrates, refined sugar, oils, milk products and packaged foods.

For dessert, Sidhu ate dates occasionally.

The politician's wife's oncologist also said that her PET scans were negative meaning she did not have any cancer in her body. He added that the diet she was on helped her recover from the aftermath of the cancer treatment. "Her recovery has taken a 360-degree," he said.
