NCISM introduces Medical Astrology for better diagnosis in Ayurveda treatment
27-Feb-23 04:56:58

The National Council for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM) has introduced Astrology as an optional subject in the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) programme this year. Close to 1,000 students have already enrolled in the Astrology programme, which is of 10 months and consists of 25 video lectures.

NCISM claims that the students will learn to understand the astrological analysis of abdominal diseases, fever, heart disease and tuberculosis. The subject will help them correlate the line of treatment with the planetary and constellation positions.

Speaking to

Education Times Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, vice-chancellor, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, says, “Ayurveda students must learn about Medical Astrology. The changes in planets and constellations according to the natal chart of a person have a direct effect on the health and mind of humans.”
The students will be able to diagnose and design the course of treatment for different patients in consonance with their natal chart which varies based on cases. Astrology works upon some calculations to predict the movement of planets, hence, it will not affect the logical orientation of students.
