New Ayurveda Institute gets warm response from Goan students

PANJIM: The just inaugurated All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIY), Goa campus received very good response from the Goan students during admission to State quota for Bachelor in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) seats, as all 50 seats are filled in the first round of admission itself. 

The students are directed to report to the college on December 15, even as the date for commencement of regular lectures is yet to be announced.

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, in the very first year had granted 100 seats for the BAMS programme to AIIA, Goa campus in Dhargle-Pernem, of which 50 seats are reserved for Goan students. AIIA Goa -- a satellite institute of AIIA Delhi -- is affiliated to the Goa University. 

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) had the first round of admissions on December 8-9. The admissions were based on NEET 2022 scores. 

Sources at the DTE informed that all the 50 seats, reserved under State quota are filled in the very first round. 

“Students who had taken admission to private institute at Shiroda -- offering BAMS programme -- shifted to AIIA,” sources said adding that currently there are four vacant seats at Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre, Shiroda. 

Sources said that the date of commencement of regular lectures is yet to be announced by AYUSH regulatory body. However, the college has asked students to report on December 15. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the AIIA Goa campus, Phase I. 

The admissions under all India quota are currently underway with last round of admission scheduled on December 17.
