JAMMU, Apr 18: Secretary, Union Ministry of Ayush, Padamshree Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha today visited Directorate of Ayush Jammu and took detailed round of Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu along with Dr Mohan Singh (Director Ayush J&K).
The Secretary visited OPD Block, IPD Blocks and various Procedure Sections of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, wherein he interacted with the patients and their attendants. He also interacted with doctors & paramedical staff and enquired about services being provided to the patients. He also visited other service areas like Laboratory, Pharmacy etc.
The Union Secretary also visited the Demonstration Herbal Gardens established in the Directorate of Ayush and Charak Vatika in the Hospital. He advised officers and officials to further improve and maintain the service standards of the said Hospitals in compliance to National Accreditation Board for Ayush Hospitals so that this Hospital can achieve the NABH Certification. He assured all the support for the up-gradation of the Hospital for providing seamless services.
Director Ayush J&K informed Union Secretary that the purpose of establishing Herbal Garden is to educate Ayush fraternity to establish Herbal Gardens in all the Ayush Institutions of UT of J&K, wherein about 90 species of different medicinal plants have been planted. The Union Secretary advised Director Ayush J&K to share the pictures of Demonstration Herbal Gardens of the Directorate and Hospital complexes with the Ministry of Ayush, so that the same can be replicated in other states/UTs of the country.
Secretary AYUSH was highly impressed with the functioning of the Panchkarma and Ksharsutra units in the Hospital. He also advised to establish Separate Specialized Panchkarma units for the male and female patients having all the facilities including pantry and washrooms.
The Union Secretary was also informed about the constitution and registration of Institutional Ethics Committees at Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and Government Unani Hospital Shalteng, Srinagar, with the Department of Health Research (Government of India), for conducting evidence based clinical studies on efficacy and safety of various treatment protocols of Ayurveda & Unani.
