Uttar Pradesh Set to Launch New AYUSH Policy with PPP Model Hospitals and Research Hub
22-Jan-26 19:20:41

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to roll out a new AYUSH policy aimed at strengthening traditional systems of medicine and positioning the state as a leading centre for Ayurveda and AYUSH-based healthcare in India. The policy is currently under active deliberation by the state’s AYUSH department and is expected to be implemented in the near future.

The proposed policy focuses on expanding AYUSH healthcare services, promoting research and innovation, and creating a favourable ecosystem for the AYUSH industry, with special emphasis on Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.

AYUSH Hospitals to Operate Under PPP Model

One of the key highlights of the upcoming AYUSH policy is the plan to operate AYUSH hospitals under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This approach is expected to attract private investment while ensuring accessibility and quality in AYUSH healthcare services.

Under the PPP framework:

  • Modern infrastructure will be developed for AYUSH hospitals

  • Private sector expertise will support service delivery

  • AYUSH healthcare access will expand to semi-urban and rural areas

This model is seen as a step towards integrating AYUSH systems with mainstream healthcare delivery, while maintaining the core principles of traditional medicine.

Uttar Pradesh to Emerge as an AYUSH Research Hub

The policy also envisions transforming Uttar Pradesh into a major AYUSH research hub. The state government plans to promote:

  • Scientific research and clinical validation of Ayurvedic and traditional therapies

  • Documentation of traditional knowledge systems

  • Evidence-based AYUSH practices aligned with global standards

The move is expected to strengthen the credibility of AYUSH therapies and support their acceptance in both national and international healthcare ecosystems.

Boost for AYUSH Industry and Employment

The new AYUSH policy emphasises creating a business-friendly environment for the AYUSH industry. Proposed measures include:

  • Encouraging AYUSH drug manufacturing and innovation

  • Supporting startups and MSMEs in the AYUSH sector

  • Generating employment opportunities for AYUSH professionals

By focusing on industry growth alongside healthcare delivery, the policy aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a manufacturing, innovation, and research hub for AYUSH.

Opportunities for AYUSH Doctors and Vaidyas

Experts believe the policy will create new professional opportunities for AYUSH doctors, Vaidyas, researchers, and healthcare practitioners. Increased investment in hospitals, research institutions, and industry projects is expected to enhance career prospects across clinical practice, research, and public health.

Indianvaidyas Perspective

According to Indianvaidyas, the proposed AYUSH policy represents a strategic shift toward a structured, evidence-driven, and scalable AYUSH ecosystem. The focus on PPP models, research infrastructure, and industry development aligns with the growing demand for integrated and credible traditional healthcare systems in India.

Indianvaidyas views this initiative as a significant step toward empowering AYUSH practitioners, improving patient access, and strengthening the role of Ayurveda and other AYUSH systems in India’s healthcare landscape.
