The world saw the efficiency of Ayurveda and Yoga when modern medicine failed during the COVID pandemic, according to Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Dhami was speaking at the curtain raiser for the World Ayurveda Conference, the tenth edition of which will kick off in Dehradun on December 12. The four-day event will draw some two lakh participants and registrations from 54 countries have already been made.
The ninth edition of the conference took place in Goa.
Dhami said that the conference was returning to the state which held its traditional wisdom within its land and geography.
There are 18 state departments which will come together for the conference. Dhami said this was in keeping with the state’s focus on health and wellness which was also an important component in the state’s tourism sector.
While the entire country was dedicated to the cause of Ayurveda, Uttarakhand had the prime responsibility to promote it, said Dhami.
Under this, the state is also giving the finishing touches to the country’s first policy for Yoga. He also informed the gathering that modern amenities such as telemedicine were being offered in all AYUSH clinics across the state.
The first edition of the conference took place in Kochi in 2022. This year’s conference is being held under the theme ‘Digital Ayurveda’ and will focus on artificial intelligence, telemedicine, large mile connectivity among others.
One highlight of this conference which is to be held at Dehradun’s Parade Grounds and the Smart City grounds is a buyer-seller meet in which over 100 established industry players and startups will participate.
Over 6,500 participants, including traditional medicine practitioners, healers and scientists will show up for the conference in which over 200 scientific sessions and AYUSH clinics will be held.
The conference is supported by the AYUSH ministry.
