Varanasi: Though the Covid-19 menace had brought down the figures of patients at the Government Ayurvedic hospital from 1.10 lakh figure of 2019 to 48,246 in 2020, the revival of the faith of people in Ayurveda, especially in view of its role in boosting immunity, took the 2022 figures of the patients beyond the mark of 1.12 lakh at this hospital. Around 5 lakh patients registered at this hospital between 2017 and 2022.
The Government Ayurveda College and hospital’s senior medical officer Dr Arvind Kumar Singh said that the hospital has witnessed a massive rise in the patients load at the hospital in past five years. As per the hsopital records, the total number of registration of patients at this hospital has crossed the mark of five lakh between 2017 and 2022, he said.
Showing the rising trend of dependency on the government run Ayurveda hospital, Singh said, in 2017 the total number of registration of patients was 79,487.
This was the year when after assuming his office chief minister Yogi Adityanath gave a big push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the promotion, alternative healthcare system by promoting Ayurveda, Yoga, naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy by forming the ministry of Ayush in 2014. People associated with the hospital said that focus of Yogi government to popularise Ayurveda by adding facilities has started encouraging the people to seek its benefits.
